Volunteers stay in a dormitory-style lodge in the heart of Auckland. The hostel is comfortable, modern, safe and has super friendly staff.

Programs start on the first and third Monday of the month throughout the year.

This program ranges from 2-12 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.

Your Impact

As a Coastline Conservation and Education volunteer you’ll be outdoors, helping with a variety of activities in order to conserve and preserve the stunning local beaches, waterways and islands. A primary focus of the project is on the restoration of important Maori land. You may even get the unique opportunity to volunteer with members from a local iwi (Maori community), gaining cultural insights and traditional knowledge while learning about New Zealand’s history and the importance of restoration work.

The other side of this program is based around environmental education, you will help run sustainable events and workshops with schools and members of the public to help people better understand how to care for our planet and collect vital data needed to make real change within environmental policies.

All activities undertaken on this project are working towards the vision of beautiful beaches, healthy waters and inspired people. Conservational activities are seasonal and vary based on the time of year you’re there, but can include:
  • Beach clean-ups
  • Data Collection
  • Water Quality testing
  • Tree survival monitoring
  • Event management
  • Educational presentations and school workshops
  • Restoring habitats for marine wildlife
  • Helping at a native plant nursery
